Most of us start out blogging because there was something we wanted to talk about, something close to our heart, something we were passionate about. While that was the driving force, we soon realized that the drive alone wasn’t enough to make our blogs successful. There was a complete checklist that one had to get right – SEO, keywords, networking, link parties and so on and so forth. Blog marketing alone is a science in itself! This is the first post on how to create fab content for your blog.
Create fab content for your blog
Somewhere along the way, it’s easy to feel that all we do nowadays is post on Facebook groups and share on Twitter; we hardly spend any time thinking about the content, the actual meat of our blog. And all the SEO in the world won’t bring in readers if your content is sub par! If you feel like you’re stuck in a content rut and want to create fabulous content for your blog, here are a few tips from us!
- Be Authentic
This is the first and foremost thing to always remember, and everything comes after that. No matter what you’re writing about, be original. It’s completely normal to be inspired by something you’ve read elsewhere, but remember that the reason you want to write on the same topic is because you’ve got something to add to it.
Our Fab Tip: Even if it’s a topic that’s been done to death, you’ll probably have your own unique take on the matter, so let that shine through your writing.
- Be Relevant
In today’s word of #hashtags, it’s not difficult to find what’s trending. And you obviously have the headlines pouring into your timeline throughout the day. So, you are up to date with the happenings of the world and this should reflect in your blog posts. It will resonate with people much more, and you’re likely to have many comments and an active discussion on your posts. And yes, you can also share the post on social media with said hashtags.
Our Fab Tip: Did you know that the max number of hashtags you should use in a post is 3? More than 3 can be spammy!
- Be Respectful
If there’s anything the world events of the past several months have shown us, it’s how mean people can be on social media. They seem to let down their guard and put forth absolutely insensitive comments, many of which are downright offensive. Let your blog be a safe space and even if you’re opposing a popular view, be respectful and sensitive.
Our Fab Tip: Choose your words carefully. Your readers will appreciate it, even if they don’t necessarily agree with your opinions.
- Use Images
If a picture is worth a thousand words, an infographic is probably worth a million! A relevant and eye catching picture that breaks up blocks of text is easy on the eye and adds to the effect of the overall post. Look at this absolutely fab infographic that gives out the right info!
If your post is a ‘How to’ or tutorial kind of post, separate images for each step will take it several notches higher and makes it more likely to get shared and pinned.
Our Fab Tip: If you create your own images it will add that extra zing to your post.
- Do your Research
Numbers have a certain magic attached to them. When you support your views with hard solid facts, it makes your post that more powerful. The facts you supply have to be reliable or you’ll have your readers to answer to! Do sufficient research and get the facts right before you publish your post. Half baked facts don’t make for fab content!
Our Fab Tip: Always use reliable sources to get your facts right if you are quoting numbers.
