3 Tips for Better Facebook Live Broadcasts
1. Promote. Promote and Promote
If you are starting out with Facebook Live for the very first time and as a brand or a biz owner, you want to make it more impacting, then ensure your promote the event at least a week before you go live. Facebook Live helps you to target your biz page, groups or even your personal network. When you promote it, you are letting the audience know that there is an upcoming event and also create an intrigue around it. Use images or even short videos to mention the live. If your live video is on a large scale, consider using the FB ads option to reach out to more people. Apart from your FB page, use other social media as well to talk about it – tweet the event, send out a mail to your subscriber list, write a blog post around the topic you would be going on. The possibilities are endless.
2. Prepare and Practice
Your first live video can be an impacting one. Since you have the time, ensure that you take the time to prep a bit so that the viewers or followers can hear you clearly without any distractions. You can have your live videos for as long as 90 minutes, but try and optimise the text so that you can engage the audience as soon as you can and not have them drop off the live call.
Do a practice run of the things that you will talk about at least 2-3 times so that you know what you can speak about. It will help you to get a flow of the content right. You can also write a series of points that you want to talk about and refer to it when you go live. One very important thing when you are practicing – change the settings to only YOU can view it before you practice. You will be able to see the replay as well that will be visible to you. To change the settings, set Facebook’s Who Should See This? privacy setting to Only Me.
When you are ready to go live start by relaxing and don’t forget to smile. Introduce yourself and your brand. Let the audience know what you will be talking about. Interact with the audience as you broadcast an ask them for feedback or questions as you talk. Facebook Live allows you to view how many viewers you have at any given point of time. Address viewers who ask you questions by the first name and interact with them when they ask you something instead of cramming it all for the end of the broadcast.
Wrapping it up
Before you wrap up your broadcast, sum up what you talked about in the broadcast. End your live video with a call-to-action and if you have plans about your next live broadcast ready, share it so that you can build up the intrigue. Share the video once it has ended on your timeline and ask them to share it. Make yourself accessible to any follow-up questions from the audience.
