As someone who has their own biz, you will know how important it is to reach out to the audience and connect with them. Connecting with the audience will help you interact with them and know what the requirements are so that you can sometimes tweak your offerings to them.
One such technology that allows us to reach real time is Facebook Live. I have talked about Facebook Live comprehensively in my earlier posts as well. And when you reach out to your audience, ensure that you make your Facebook Live more engaging.
Connecting with the audience is easy today because technology has made it simpler for us to reach out. Using various social media to let the audience know about you, your biz and the team, the list is endless.
In this two part post, I am listing some of the tips you can use to make your Facebook Live more engaging.
How to make your Facebook Live more Engaging
Facebook live videos are more engaging in comparison to the pre-recorded ones. But, let’s looks at some tips and techniques you can use to make your Facebook Live more engaging.
Buy the right equipment
No one likes a shaky video and let’s be honest, if you are going to be speaking for 15 minutes, your hand is going to ache! You need to have really good videos out there and look professional. A simple tripod that can hold the phone for you. And you can get one for as less as $10 or INR 1000. You won’t be spending a bomb!
Ensure good lighting
Light can impact the quality of the video, so never shoot against the light and do not have the light reflecting on the eyes. If you are shooting outdoors, ensure that it is bright and sunny. In case you are indoors try out the various options before you zero into one.
Have an outline handy
Instead of fumbling with words and getting lost for words, draft an outline on what you would like to speak on in your Facebook Live. A small piece of paper that you can refer to when you are talking with the points neatly jotted down can serve as a reminder for you.
Top Tip: List the points in a logical order so that you and your audience does not get confused on what you are
Prep yourself and test the process
It is alright to have those glitches. Ensure that you take the time to prep a bit so that the viewers or followers can hear you clearly without any distractions. And get comfortable with the idea of facing the camera. One very important thing when you are practicing – change the settings to only YOU CAN VIEW it before you practice. You will be able to see the replay as well that will be visible to you. To change the settings, set Facebook’s Who Should See This? Privacy setting to Only Me.
Top Tip: Still unsure? Just record a couple of videos and do a test run to see how you fare and make a note of the points you need to improve.
A good wi-fi connection
The last thing that you need is a weak connection with the video getting disconnected and broken at regular intervals. This is pretty much a no-brainer. Choose a spot with a good w-fi when you start your broadcast. We’re sure this won’t be a problem if you are indoors, but if you choose to broadcast from an outside location, look for a 4G coverage to get a good quality video.
Top Tip: If the Go Live button is grayed out on the phone/device, it indicates the signal is weak. Avoid a broadcast when the button is grayed out.
So these are some things that you must follow to make your Facebook Live more engaging. In the second part of this post, I will be listing more ideas that can help you get a better engagement. In the meantime, leave a comment and let me know what are some of your techniques to get a better engagement on your FB lives.
