“Good design goes to heaven; bad design goes everywhere” – Mieke Gemitzen
There’s no doubt about the fact that a picture can convey a thousand words, perhaps even more. So when you’re attempting to use social media marketing for your blog or business, you have to put a lot of thought into all those thousands of words that are going out to your audience! One nagging question that haunts almost all of us who us social media is, ” How to improve social media images”.
That’s why good design is so important, and today we’ll look into some simple ways to improve social media images. This two part post will talk about how you can improve social media images for your media.
3 Simple Ways to Improve Social Media Images
1. Use Colors Intelligently
Colors play a huge role in how the audience interprets your images. Certain colors are associated with certain moods and evoke certain emotions in people. For instance, blue and green evoke feelings of calm, while orange and red often increase appetites. And choosing the right colors isn’t enough – the tone, hue and saturation are important too. Also ensure that the colors don’t clash, but contrast well with the font colors so everything is distinctly visible at first glance.
2. Include the right fonts
Besides the right colors, the right fonts are equally important. The general rule of thumb is to choose not more than three different fonts, all of which contrast well with each other. Just as with colors, fonts also evoke a certain feeling: for instance, Serif fonts are considered more traditional while script fonts are considered more elegant. Consider the size of the font too – it should be proportionate to the rest of the image. Clean and clear fonts are the best to use. Avoid using the fancy cursive fonts that are hard to read.
3. Stick to Consistent Branding
When putting up images on social media, do remember that they’re a projection of you and your brand. Hence, it makes sense to stick to a consistent branding pattern with regards to fonts and colors. Know the hex values of your brand colors and still better, set up a style guide. You can use software like Canva to save your brand’s styling so you can easily create and brand images. As they get shared and become popular, your brand will get better reach.
We’ve mentioned this earlier, a picture does speak a thousand words. When you are creating images, use ones that will create an impact and will be easy to recollect. Do not forget to brand your images! Branding them will also ensure an easy recall. What are some of your ways to improve social media images? Share it with us!
