In our previous posts, we’ve talked about the importance of repurposing content. We also talked about how you can repurpose social media content and how you can repurpose a viral blog post. But for all this to work, you first need to find content worth repurposing! After all, your repurposing efforts need to be justified!
If you’re new to repurposing content, you need to first learn to identify the kind of content that can be repurposed. If you’ve got a lot of content already, we’ve got some handy tips to help you find the right kind of content to repurpose!
How to Find Content worth Repurposing
1. Timeless Content
This is the best kind of content to repurpose! If you have content that is evergreen and independent of the season or time period, then perfect! For instance, people are always looking for ways to go green, so if you have some good content on that, then use it!
2. Content with the most Views
This is another no-brainer – if you have a quality post that got a good amount of views, give it a chance to shine again. You can update a few details to make it more current and repurpose it in every way you can think of – videos, eBooks or blog series!
3. Most Shared Content
If you’ve got social sharing enabled on your blog, you’ll know which posts got shared the most. You can also get insights from social media platforms to find out which posts did well. Now you can repurpose by reworking them and turn the blog post into a series of social media posts or vice versa.
4. Posts with Good Interaction
You’re quite likely to remember the posts that good a good amount of interaction and engaged many readers. Make these posts go the extra mile, by repurposing them to your (and your readers’) benefit. Insights give some valuable information about how well each post did as well as the kind of demographic it appealed to.
5. Posts which can be Renewed
While the tips above have dealt with posts that did well in the first place, they aren’t the only candidates for repurposing. If you have some content that you truly believe is golden but somehow didn’t do well, it’s time to give it another chance. And if the topic is still relevant, it’s the perfect opportunity to update it and send it out into the world again, in different forms if you like.
If you’re a beginner in repurposing, it can take a bit of trial and error to find content worth repurposing. But you’ll soon get the hang of it, and before you know it, you’ll be a pro at repurposing all kinds of content!
